Numbers 35-36 – March 10

35:33-34 So you shall not pollute the land in which you are; for blood pollutes the land and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the Lord am dwelling in the midst of the sons of Israel.’”

These verses drew my attention. I first wondered if God was teaching them about environmentalism, but after some study, I believe that God is teaching them about introducing pollutants into where God lives.

“Do not pollute (defile – Heb. tame – pollute, make unclean) where you live, where God lives, because God is living where you live.” (My version)

So, we must always be willing to honestly ask ourselves: “What am I introducing to the place where God lives?” “What am I allowing to enter into my heart and my mind?” What do I read, see, watch, hear, listen to? Is it a pollutant? Is it unclean? Is it worthy for the temple where God dwells?”

2 Corinthians 6:16 … For we are the temple of the living God …

Luke 19:45-46 And Jesus entered the temple grounds and began to drive out those who were selling, 46 saying to them, “It is written: ‘And My house will be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”

Yikes! Pardon me whilst I go and get a broom and a dustpan.
