Leviticus 26-27 - February 22

In the last several chapters of Leviticus, I noticed many mentions of “aliens”. I started to mark them and realized that they were mentioned very often.

Aliens and Natives

19:34 The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.

stranger/alien – from the Hebrew word “gare” - properly a guest; by implication a foreigner: - alien, sojourner, stranger.

I love seeing God’s heart for people in the Old Testament. Although God claimed a specific people as His, He still allowed others to join (in a way) to His benefit and relationship.

This also encourages me to love those who are not yet accepting of God or Christians. I was once a sinner too, but now saved by grace.

“Father I pray that I will always love those aliens as You do, and I ask for assistance in influencing them to realize Your love!”
